Wednesday marked the end of my self-imposed alcohol ban, which I celebrated by opening a nice bottle of Rioja.
The alcohol-free month was partly a response to the usual Christmas over-indulgence, partly to see if alcohol had any part to play in my insomnia, and partly to see if I feel any better generally. (I don’t drink a massive amount, two or sometimes three bottles of wine in the average week).
Well the insomnia didn’t improve. Feel better? That’s a tricky one. Do I feel better for not drinking or for running more? Did I miss the demon drink? Not much, and less and less a the month went on.
One handy side-effect: I have a little more money at the end of the month.
